Working Student - QA & Manual Testing (m/f/d)

Software engineering at ottonova consists of several cross-functional teams, each led by a Team Lead and a Product Manager, and working according to agile methodologies such as Scrum. You'll be part of our Piedpiper team with responsibility for key aspects of customer acquisition, from signup processes to partner integrations. We use modern technologies in both frontend and backend development and place a high priority on creating reliable, high-quality products.

In this role, your focus will be on manual testing and quality assurance as part of our sprint-based workflow. Your responsibilities will involve: 

• testing new features and improvements before they go live 
• exploring our applications actively to find bugs and inconsistencies 
• documenting issues clearly so engineers can reproduce and fix them quickly 
• help improving our QA processes 
• gaining familiarity with our automated end-to-end tests over time and helping to maintain them in the long term

What success will look like for you: 
You notice things others miss, take a systematic approach to testing, and are curious enough to question or break things down.

We are not looking for extensive experience; we are looking for the right way of thinking: While technical knowledge is important, curiosity and learning ability matter more.  

We might be the right match for you if this sounds like you: 

• You study computer science, business informatics, or a related field. This is not a strict requirement; we also welcome candidates from other backgrounds who have a strong interest in technology and digital products.
• You enjoy figuring out how systems work and where they might fail 
• You have a keen eye for detail and can spot even the smallest inconsistencies 
• You think in a structured way and communicate clearly and respectfully
• You act proactively, ask questions, and go beyond the "happy path" when testing
• You enjoy working in a team and exchanging feedback with Software and QA Engineers 
• You have a solid understanding of how web applications work, and some familiarity with APIs and testing concepts
• You speak excellent English, both spoken and written, and enjoy working in a multicultural, interdisciplinary environment. German is a plus. Sense of humor is bonus! :)
• You are located in or around Munich and are happy to join us in the office at least one day per week
